Regina point-in-time count ‘significantly underestimates’ number of homeless people: advocates

A point-in-time count conducted by volunteers over one night last year found the number of homeless people in Regina was lower than in 2024. But advocates and community organizers say those stats don’t reflect what they’re seeing.

Each year, Namerind Housing Corporation tallies what is known as a point-in-time (PiT) count. Last year’s count on Oct. 2 found 767 people experiencing homelessness in Regina. They found 824 in 2024.
