2026 Community Connection Travel Plans

Indigenous communities from coast to coast to coast are advancing culturally grounded, holistic responses for Indigenous Peoples experiencing homelessness. The National Indigenous Homelessness Council’s National Coordination Project works to support Indigenous-led solutions that strengthen communities now and honour responsibility to future generations.
The National Coordination project’s brings together Indigenous Homelessness Community Entities and Indigenous Community Advisory Boards to collaborate, share learning, and support community-driven innovation across urban, rural, and remote contexts. The project takes a systems approach, recognizing that homelessness is shaped by interconnected drivers across systems.

By respecting local governance and distinctions-based realities, and advocating for equitable, sustained supports, we aim to strengthen prevention and reduce both the duration and recurrence of homelessness. Together, we turn shared community learning into actionable insights that support stronger practice, coordination, and outcomes.

The National Coordination Project works within the framework that Indigenous community systems, when given the proper funding and support, will ensure homelessness is prevented whenever possible or is otherwise a rare, brief, and one-time experience.
