ArcticNet 2025 Opens Inuit Recognition Award and Inuit Travel Fund

ArcticNet’s Annual Scientific Meeting will be held in Calgary, Alberta, from December 15–18, 2025. Two key opportunities are available for Inuit participation, both with an application deadline of October 1, 2025.

Inuit Recognition Award

This award honors Inuit individuals making significant contributions to Arctic research. Nominees must be of Inuit descent, 21 years or older, and have led or assisted in research projects. Nominations must include a 250-word minimum description of the nominee’s contributions, a short biography including Inuit descent and community of origin, and optional one-page letters of recommendation. The award recipient will be selected by the Inuit Research Management Committee and recognized at the ArcticNet gala on December 18.

Inuit Travel Fund

This fund supports travel expenses for Inuit land claim beneficiaries to attend the 2025 ArcticNet conference. Eligible nominators include ArcticNet grant recipients, board members, and committee members. Nominees must be involved in or have contributed to Arctic research and must be unable to attend due to lack of funding. Projects must be funded by specific federal programs (e.g., ICBCM, CCPN, CCHAP-N, NCP). Nomination packages should include contact details, role at the conference, a short bio, and confirmation of attendance. Approved applicants will have travel, registration, and per diem costs covered, but no honorarium.
